In addtion to being one of only two bridges that cross the Genad Canal, this one, like the Rialto, offers splendid views of the Canal and beyond. It is a wooden structure so that adds to it's interst, as well.

Sure it is not the most attractive bridge in Venice but it is one of the better vantage points from which to admire the Grand Canal. We often found the crowds using this bridge a lot less chaotic than of course the famous Rialto, so you can get some excellent photos here without any hassle. There are one or two... More

Late afternoon on a sunny day the view towards Santa Maria della Salute is stunning. Be patient, take your tripod and wait for the sunset (in your back) and you will be rewarded with a fine blue hour and gorgeous pictures ...

Ponte dell'Accademia may be the ugliest of the four Grand Canal bridges, but undeniably has the best view of the Grand Canal that is perhaps one of the most famous representations of Venice! Immortalized by the artist Canaletto, the view from this bridge is spectacular: the Grand Canal is opening up to the lagoon and the ending is topped with... More

This bridge is a great place to stand and people and boat watch. It is always busy with people heading to L'Accademia in one dirction and the Peggy Guggenhiem in the other. From the bridge, looking at the canal, there is a continual succession of gondolas, water taxis, vaporettos and other working boats. Never a dull moment

We saw this place several times from different angles -by water and by walking-. We did not go inside, but I do not doubt that it would be worthwhile to do so. We spent a week in Venice and I was a little sorry that I couldn't stay there for a month. But even with that extra time I'm not... More

It's a bit of a climb if you're out of shape but not horrible. You can get some great photos of the Grand Canal from the center. Closest bridge to St. Mark's Square.

You simply must experience walking up and over this famous wooden bridge, and be sure to pause at the top to take the famous view of the Grand Canal.

This wooden pedestrian bridge crosses the Grand Canal at its southern end before Saint Mark's Basin, connecting the San Marco and Dorsodura historic districts. I have used it to reach both the Gallerie dell' Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Dorsodura. The views from both sides present lovely photo ops, especially when a gondola glides by. Few people seem to... More
