Put off at first by surly receptionist - we picked up our pre-booked tickets in silence with only a scowl from the reception person. Upstairs in the first viewing room the help was not forthcoming; this type of gallery usually give you a guide or...More

I went there last week. Was told at the desk about closure of some galleries but not about the extent of closures. I only got to see 2 of the 6 paintings I really wanted to see and was charged full admission. Feel it is...More

Firstly I was pleasantly surprised with the works of art in particular the Hieronymous Bosch paintings. The Tempest by Giorgione was amazing. The room layouts were a little confusing just a word of caution, the Vitruvian man by Leonardo is not on display

Great art work by great Venetian artists. They have added ground floor exhibits since my last visit 5 years ago.

Check before you enter which parts are closed, also note the opening hours (it closes at 2:00PM on Monday!) What we could see was great, but the most interesting part and the reason for my visit was closed

Following Rick Steve's advice, I went there around 5:00 pm, and there was no crowds. Frankly, the quantity of art there is overwhelming; I found the high point to be the Hieronymus Bosch Triptychs.

This gallery contains a lot of religious art work from the 15th century, the highlights for us was the Hieronymous Bosch paintings. An average art gallery but set in a beautiful building !!

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with
street artists, students, painters, sculptors,
restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and
heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's
collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for
evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries
cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica
buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob

Although we purchased on-line in advance, there was not a line and it was not crowded. I would think it would depend on the time of the year you hoped to visit. To be safe, I would recommend purchasing in advance and... More
