A small church, octogonal in shape, which is very original. It has 6 chapels, 1 austel and an entryway. Very well lit (thanks to a dome) and decorated inside.

Even though it is nice, I would not rate it as a must see. If you have limited time in Venice, I would not put it as a priority, but the neighborhood is very nice

This beautiful cathedral is just on the tip of the island of Venice, and was built as a memorial to victims of the plague and as a thanks for sparing the remaining population. It has a very somber feel, and is very beautifully designed. A...More

The church is amazing, but the views from the church towards Venice are even better. Walking to it was an experience as well.

Located almost directly across the Grand Canal from Piazza San Marco this edifice sits almost at the end of a land mass. Outside of the church are numerous steps where people sit, rest, and converse or just enjoy the view of Venice. Across the piazza...More

There is not so much interest in visiting this church which is a big circular dome where you can't go in the middle. but the walk through the small street around is very interesting

prepare for a longish walk from Rialto Bridge unless you buy a water bus pass! You must go - this building is impressive with some fantastic artwork and will give the photo hungry traveller LOTS of stunning pictures - peaceful despite the travellers!

The church is right on the entry into the grand canal (salute stop) if travelling on the water bus. Octagonal and the unmistakable dome can't be missed. Full of paintings and murals by Titian, this church should not be missed. Detoured here after lond queues...More

Santa Maria della Salute is probably the most picturesque church in Venice. It has perfect position between Grand Canal and Canal della Giudecca. White architecture with central ground plan is climbing up to the cupola. Building stands on a huge pedestal and is accessible only...More

Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute is home to a number of Titian's paintings, most of them in the sacristy. While the church is free, the sacristy entrance fee is €4 and it opens at 10.

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with
street artists, students, painters, sculptors,
restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and

Is there a dress code to get into the church? E.g. No short skirts or shoulders exposed?

Unfortunately the church closes quite early at 17.30. I have often wanted to show the sacristy to visiting friends and stood before a closed door. The church is also closed at lunch time and reopens at 15.30. In the morning... More
