Beautiful theatre

I visited Teatro La Fenice on a selfguided tour. What a beautiful theatre! Absolutely stunning! I love the fact that they decorated the theatre as it was after the last fire.

We bought the family pass which includes the audio guide for each of us. Just to go inside and see the incredible restoration after multiple fires, was worth it! We would have loved to have been in a regular box for viewing, but they opened the Royal box. Incredible experience and if you can not see an Opera here, at... More

there are 2 restaurants next to the opera. Of course viewing a performance is not cheap, but you'll forget the price

From our Room in the Hotel Taverna La Fenice next door we could hear the acts warming up - added to the romance of the Theatre for us, the building was Magic and a tour before a show is a must do adventure

On our sixth visit to Venice, we finally visited La Fenice. What a jewel it is. Just beautiful. The thought of the fire destroying it is enough to bring me to tears. Thankfully it has been lovingly and faithfully rebuilt. We visited by ourselves, with an audio guide and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were there at the end of the... More

Even if the season is over, and there are no performances scheduled, make sure not to miss visiting La Fenice. You can either visit with a group, or on your own; every visit includes the theatre auditorium, one of the most beautiful, ornate theatres in the world. Often there's a smaller exhibit in some of the smaller rooms; most recently... More

We spent our last night in Venice (and Italy) at the opera, and we are so pleased with our choice! We splurged and got ourselves a box, box 29 on the 3rd or 4th level. It was fun to get all dolled up and head to the opera. We arrived early and took our time walking around and finding our... More

I booked 2 seats to see the opera aqua grande arrived at 7pm just in time. The opera started the time quoted on the tickets. No room to be late or get a drink. We was on the top floor. Considering the seats was 66 euros each i had a post in front of my view and the seats was... More

Inside this legendary opera theatre,is a work of Amazing architecture and beauty. One must sit inside the theatre and appreciate the grandeur, I sat in the center of the orchestra during the open to the public self tour and stayed for a long time gazing at the golden decorations and intricate work of art. I am still in awe. Don't... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
