Of course the church is beautiful. It is by Paladio, but make sure that you go up the campanile too. It has one of the best views of Venice that I know and, if you're there on the hour, the bells are fantastic

Vaporetto, line 2, and go! Amazing place with a square outside, providing unbelievable views of Venice main island. And YES for campanilla view, which is even better that San Marco one. The church itself is soo impressive although modest! And the giant paintings at the main altar area...

Place to be when Venice is crowded by tourists. Beautiful spot to view St. Mark's Square. Get on top of the building and enjoy grand view of Grand Canal and also, you will be able to capture your best Venice pictures from top here.

We took the Vaporetto water bus from San Marco. Being on the water in Venice is a must try. Go up the campanile by lift (need to pay) for a great view of San Marco and Dorsoduro.

This is a beautiful church and well worth the walk to get to it since you will pass thru some quiet neighborhoods. Walk out to the point for a view of Piazza San Marco

GO!! Go up the campanile and have a look over venice from 'the other side'. Looking over the laggon from here is incredible. Definitely worth the small vaparetto journey

We visited by vaporetto. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we could visit the top of the bell tower, for wonderful views across the lagoon, towards the Doges Palace, San Marco Square and the waterfront. It was peaceful in comparison to the hustle and bustle across the water. Well worth a visit!

We were fortunate to have a clear day in an otherwise overcast week during our visit to Venice and took the opportunity to pop across to the monastery and tower. The view from the top of the tower is absolutely stunning and the bonus is that there is an elevator :)

A short trip across from San Mark's, this island houses the lovely San Giorgio Maggiore church and a bell tower that affords one marvellous views of Venice. A much less crowded way to enjoy the beauty of Venice from above.

Cheaper than the campinale in S. Marco, and much less busy, this gives great views of the lagoon. You will need to get across probably by vaporetto but if you have a day pass for that, it's well worth the time and trouble.
