We popped over and enjoyed the church with very few other visitors. Beautiful space, chance to enjoy watching the world go by; we enjoyed the sculpture and peacefulness as well as a coffee in the coffee shop around the corner.

I work on this island but have visited the San Giorgio bell tower. Its better than the one at San Marco; shorter lines and you can see the whole of Venice included San Marco! The museum here is very good too!

This another of Venice's nice churches and well worth a visit if you love to visit churches. We were walking for miles during a very cold day in December and popped into many churches for a warm up!

Very easy to reach with the Vaporetto starting from Piazza San Marco (going one station with line 1). Very nice church, good for taking pictures. Entrance to the church is free, going up the tower is 6 € per adult. Very nice view towards Venice....More

Hop on vaporetto no. 2 from San Marco, and in few minutes you are on a small island, big enough for this rather large church, and little else. We went over out of curiosity... There was one pleasing feature there at the time - a...More

Having read about the views on TA before our trip, we looked forward to our visit. It was just as beautiful as expected! Getting there was easy on the #2 vaporetto - the church is literally a few yards from the landing. The admission is...More

The San Giorgio Tower has a lift! The views stretch from across the lagoon and are more than satisfying. I went on a clear, sunny day. It was perfect.

This spot is easily reached by Vaporetto and is well worth the trip. The church itself is surprisingly plain by Italian standards but still impressive but we came to take the lift up to the top of the Campanille/Bell Tower for some wonderful views of...More

We always buy a vaporetto ticket for the week we are staying in Venice so I am not sure about the ruling on two separate trips. I my view it is probably just as cheap to buy a day ticket and you would be able to hop on and... More

San Georgia Maggiore is south-east of Piazza San Marco - we were there just before sunset last winter and the colours of the sunset were most intense over the island of Giudeca - more to the west, as might be expected.
