This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

While visiting Venice it could be interesting have a trip to Torcello island: it is the ancient place from which Venice originated. It is completely different from the characteristic and touristic Burano, you can find there a little village with the cathedral of S. Fosca...More

Went there because I was curious to see the famous mosaic and it is really worth while seeing, although the entrance fee is quite expensive for a church in the middle of nowhere

We stopped off here to see the Tower and church together with Atilla the Hun's throne. The tower was leaning as are most in Venice. Very interesting: bars along the way for a quick drink, lovely canal with bridge. Beautiful sunsets as we left.

Having seen ancient churches all over the World, we loved St Mark's Basilica of course, because it is full of marvellous mosaics everywhere. Years ago we went to the extraordinary Basilica of San Vitale at Ravenna, where there are 6th century Byzantine mosaics. The beautiful...More

There isn't a lot to do here besides visiting the church but it is a nice water taxi ride from the busyness of the main islands. There are a few restaurants and nice places to stay but many were closed during the off season. It...More

We enjoyed it but were anxious to go on to Murano and Burano. We walked around and enjoyed the scenery however t here were a lot of people due to a couple of tour buses so we decided not to stay for lunch.
