Although this church was closed when we visited, it was worth the walk to see the exterior. The actual colours of the marble are not quite as the books would have you believe, but they still make a beautiful facade, and we can see why...More

It was on the list so we dropped by for a quick look. They do charge admission. We were there about 10 minutes and we moved on.

we sought this church out as part of our finding locations from the film Don't Look Now. It's a gorgeous church outside and in, there is a charge to go inside and no photos allowed. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

A perfect little church, like a jewel box. So much beautiful trompe l'oeil marble and it's no surprise it's the favoured choice of Venetians for their weddings.

hidden jewel of Venice! - church made from marble. Not ornate but simply stunning. Can see why Venetians would chose to marry here

The churches in Venice are amazing. The only thing that annoys me is the fact that they tell you how much to pay to light a candle. What happened to the days of offering what one could afford. After all it is a church!!

This was an unusual and lovely church. Inside it was pure marble and very light. It had the feel of a user friendly church. It is built in a barrel shape which is unusual. It lies right next to a canal. worth a visit for...More

This church in many ways is reminiscent of Florence, more than Venice. It is located in a quiet little square, although not far from the nearby bustle of the Rialto. The location feels like a lived in neighborhood.

We searched for this church hidden away northof the Rialto bridge and it was well worth it. smaller than some, 3 euro entry with marble panels, wonderful celing frescoes, with a good story behind it's origins

Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying

for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

Its quite a trek best to take a water taxi to the Rialto Bridge ask which way there and its about 15 minutes . It is down alleys so need to check if you are heading the right way. Well worth it though

Probably Rialto or Fondamente Nuove as good as any - it's about halfway between. But the easiest way to find it is from the Church of Ss Giovanni e Paolo; from the square in front of it, a bridge leads across the canal to... More
