An amazing experience

I started the Gondola Ride from San Marco station. This ride is one of the romantic thing to do in Venice. Once in Venice, it is a must to do activity.

Yes ! Spent 3days in Venice & took a 30 minute Gondola ride for €80 from The Gondola venders in front of St Marks Square on our 2nd day at about mid day just after visiting Doge's Palace & St Mark's Basilica. 30 MINUTES IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME. If you do want to take the trip from St Mark's... More

Well, not really the top of chart at Venice, however having come to Venice, might as well do it. But take a few precautions. Agree on the route with the boatmen before boarding or paying. They can be nasty & rough. They also change the route half way through & arguing only spoils your mood.

We had been given some great advice from the host Laura of our apartment one of which was the best was to see Venice by Gondola. She advised that we should go down the back alleyways and not to go onto the Grand Canal as it is too busy. We found a Gondolier touting for business in the "Campo San... More

Our gondola ride started from the gondola station Bacino Orseolo, near Hard Rock Cafe and also ends up in the same place. The ride itself is about 30 - 40 minutes. The ride cost 80 euros in the daytime. Well, its better to take the ride in the morning while the tourists are still coming in, - you also avoid... More

My husband and I had the best gondola experience possible! Before going to Venice, I had done a lot of research. I noticed that many people had posted positive comments about a gondolier named "Luca." I know people don't prebook in advance but I thought I would since many random gondoliers got such negative reviews. I e-mailed Luca and arranged... More

Once in Venice, it's a must. The city has so much to offer in terms of culture and arts, but the gondola ride is totally different from all the other experiences because you can see significant places, buildings, bridges and hidden streets, and at the same time, stay relaxed in the gondola in the waving waters. It's a magical ride,... More

I used Viator for the gondola and serenade. There are 3 couples to a gondola. If your the first couple in you get to sit together. If your the last 2 couples on you have to sit across from one another. We were the last couple on and I sat away from my husband. He had to sit in the... More

80euros for a half hour trip on a Gondola seemed so small price to pay to take in what makes Venice so unique. We visited in Feb and in the shade was a little cool. Got to see the Rialto bridge on the way around as well.

Soak yourself into the romantic atmosphere of Venice ! Its a great way to not only see the beautiful canals in the interiors of the town while you listen to the heart soaking Italian music on the serenade...totally worth the money you spend.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
