the gondola service in venice runs for 30 min and the price is not negotiable, it is fixed by townhall and it's the same in all gondola station in venice

Yes go to Marks Square, but if you walk towards the sea front and turn right you will see a tourist office where you can also get maps and tickets for other attractions without the queing
