great view

Worth a euro for the glorious view of the city and the bay, and such good exercise climbing all those stairs!

These medieval towers are in the Castello historical quarter of the city. The were built with white limestone in the early 1300s. They are approximately 31 meters tall. At one time they were part of the city's fortification. Don't miss the "elephant" statue (although it looks more like a pig with a long nose than an elephant.)

Located in the historical Castello Quarter, this 31-meter tall medieval tower was constructed in 1307 of thick, local lime stone, and is decorated with the marble statue of an elephant. It was built to guard one of the main entrances to the district, and is the second highest tower in Cagliari. While it does create a striking entrance, it is... More

You can't miss it if you walk uphill and take the stairs (100 steps). Read the history. Too scary to consider ascending stairs, since I broke away from the cruise excursion and I didn't have my passport.

This Tower is an interesting historical place, situated at one of the gates of the old, historical centre. It has several floors, around 4-5 maybe, but I could only bring myself to go up to the second one. I saw there people much braver, but the wooden stairs seemed just too steep for me ... I am sure though the... More

On a cold, rainy January day, going up the tower was a brave thing to do. If you don't like heights or are unfit, think twice - the steps are very steep - several levels - and they were wet and slippery in some parts, but, at the top, the view was amazing. A 360 degree view of Cagliari, overlooking... More

Lots of steps and no particular appeal other than the fantastic views you get. The local area is historical and interesting so worth combining going up the tower with other things. Have a look from the bottom at the little elephant.

Well, with you like to pay to walk up and down the stairs, then this is the place to go... The only good thing is doing that in an historical place. For me, it doensn't worth the time and the money spent!

The tower was built around 1307. and has a small sculpture of an elephant on one corner. It is about 40 meters high and open one one side with a wooden construction that was used as a detention place.

I'd been told that Torre dell'Elefante afforded the best views of Cagliari, and I was not disappointed. Really spectacular 360-degree views of the city!
