This Cathedral is huge, and looks very plain from the outside. At night it is illuminated; the plaza around it is where people gather.

The use of black lava for the entire interior makes this cathedral unique. It gets a very dark, sober mood, especially if the sun is not shining.

Glad to be here on the last day of St. Agatha festival. You can see a lot of people filling the streets and bazaars full of Itallian local foods and tastes. And the church is huge and great!

Finally I had the chance to visit it!! The temple is huge and chapel of the Holy Spirit is a great example of sicilian barocco. Very interesting both from a spiritual and an artistic point of view. The grave of Vincenszo Bellini, in the church...More

It's a beautiful church that has been built and rebuilt over the past thousand years under the smack of ancient earthquakes. The steeple is way newer.. Nonetheless, it has a presence and a beautiful interior...

This is a big cathedral on a major square in the center of town. Very important site for Catania and worth a visit.

As the title says... the Antipasti was possible the best I've ever eaten, every mouthful scrummy! Very friendly service and accommodating to children! We will be back !

Interesting to see how lava was used in the construction - it looks like breeze block at first glance.
