Very nice

Worth a quick look if you're visiting Catania. The piazza out the front is really nice and surrounded by lovely architecture.

Basilica Cattedrale Sant’Agata is built on top of a Norman Cathedral built 11th century, which was repeatedly destroyed by earthquakes over the centuries. The transept and apse were the only surviving sections after the 1693 earthquake. The current cathedral was built 1709 and was a work in progress until the 19th century, when it was completed. The façade was restored... More

This Cathedral dedicated to St Agatha, is in the main piazza of Catania and is very busy with tourists. There are many tour groups around with guides so it doesn't feel like a place to of worship. However there is a chapel in which silence is expected. The baroque exterior is fine as also are the baroque decorations on the... More

Tis cathedral lies on a very busy square in the centre of town less than 100 meters from the bustling fish market. Once you enter, however, you are transported to a serene and perhaps divine world of solitude. There is no need for signs asking for quiet as the building itself demands it. There experience of walking through so much... More

The Duomo is dominating the main sq in Catania. It was rebuilt several times due to earthquakes, but it retained its original Norman apses. The front facing the Piazza is Baroque. The inside is monumental, but I saw better in Sicily.

Looks like the whole city gathers in the Duomo Square of Catania in th evening, when heat is not that killing in July.. Doumo itself is obviously on this square. In the centre of the squere there is a monument: an elefant on the top of the coloumn. And some stairs bebeath, which usually serve for people as benches. And... More

The cathedral is in the center of town on a huge open square. The inside of the cathedral is typical but impressive. Some of the foundation of the original building from Norman times can be seen.

Great place to walk around and find some great shops and explore the night life . Just be aware , as the some places can be a little expense but overall . Enjoy and take on sites that you would only see in books or a movie.

The Duomo is centrally located in Catania Right in Elephant square. It is very beautiful from the outside but even more beautiful architecture on the inside. During the St. Agatha's festivals it is crazy packed, but it is an awesome experience to be there celebrating their Patron Saint
