2000 or so Cunard passengers descended on Messina on a unscheduled stop! So on MayDay some bright spark decided not to let anyone know - shops, museums, art galleries and this lovely church was shut......

We headed up the hill to take a look from the port. Looks so shiny in the distance. What a shame it was closed though, would have loved to have gone inside.

This is a beautiful church and it attracts you from afar with it's silvery domes. It was rebuilt after the earthquake.
