A surprising number of ancient puppets plus contemporary and international ones (see photos) make this an enjoyable alternative to churches and archeology. Most international ones have enough explanation, but the other installations could do with a bit more for a self-guided walk around. The museum is a bit hidden in a side street off Piazza Marina, but good signposting helps... More

This small museum is packed with puppets from Sicily and around the world. It even has water puppets from Vietnam. Some need dusting! There are also puppets shows at least once a week. It would be great to have interactive activities as well with puppet handling especially for children.

Getting a bit away from the usual religious tourism of Palermo, this museum stands out and an interesting place to visit for people of every age. Showing the tradition of puppets of the city, as well as some other works from other parts of the world. A must-go, if you want to get some rest of the churches and palaces,... More

We were overwhelmed & pleasantly surprised by this out of the way museum. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Palermo. Be sure & visit @ a a time you can see a show.

An international collection of puppets, with a substantial collection of indigenous Sicilian tradition.

To find the museum was not easy. It is located in a very small street and no clear instructions how to go, but ask anyone there and they will help you. The museum itself has 2 floors. Very very impressive dools from over a century ago from all over the world. Very recommended!

The marionette museum is fairly easy to find behind piazza Marina, following the signs from Corso Vittorio Emanuelle down via Buttera and it is on the right. From Monday to Saturday they have puppet shows at 5.30 and it is a good idea to time your visit with one of these. We arrived about 4.30 and spent time looking at... More

This was a lovely place to visit, but not cheap at 5 euros each, it would have been good value had we seen a puppet show. They are on at select times. We had to wait for the place to open as the woman who ran it was late back from lunch, so be careful with opening times.

The museum itself is fascinating, with lots of puppets from Sicily and around the world - there is even a Punch and Judy together with their continental cousins. Some explanations dotted around but mostly in Italian, some video but only about half actually working, so it needs a bit of tlc to bring it up to its potential. However it's... More

Most people are not aware of how important the Sicilian puppet heritage is. For centuries they were used to teach the complicated the history of Sicily to children using a cycle of 271 segments/stories. It was disappointing that things were in disrepair. As another reviewer indicated the TV's weren't working and many of the puppets needed dusting!
