- Stevie8730 contributionsExceptional...unmissableOne of the most amazing and beautiful art collections I think that I have ever visited. Such a beautiful building which has been tastefully renovated, beautiful courtyards, a wonderful cafe and an amazing and eclectic collection. Loved it. Unmissable.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten April 12, 2024

Very interesting concept from all points of view - as architecture renovation they received several prizes (for good reasons) and as a museum it is interesting how they mingled contemporary art with older objects. Highly recommended!Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten May 17, 2024

I could do without the modern art parts, but still it was good way to spend a few hours. The ground floor is not great but don't lose hope!Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten June 28, 2024
- Heather BWindsor, United Kingdom197 contributionsHighly recommended.Very interesting place, which seems not to be in the standard guide book. We saw it on the TV and it is better in real life. the building and exhibits are great and there is a lift to the roof. The cafe is air conditioned and god and the staff very helpful. They lend you a guide book to understand the exhibits. I preferred this to the Palazzo Abatellis. Hint it is a good deal to buy a combined ticket with the teatro Massimo.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten September 6, 2024

This is a fabulous place to visit. We paid 10 euros each to visit the palazzo and used a guidebook as an aid to the visit. There were no tours offered.
The palazzo is stunning and the restoration is sympathetic and very imaginative. Access to the roof spaces and other touches made this visit a very memorable experience. The art collection is fascinating and the coffee isn’t bad either!

This is a great way to spend 2 hours. The building is interesting, with a number of individual rooms but also several rooms with art installations. It's unlikely everything will be for everyone, but that's what is great about art. However there will be something for everyone. It is well maintained, and there are beautiful courtyards and terraces.

This museum is best for lovers of modern art. For the rest of us, we will be wandering around wondering why this stuff is in a museum. There are also various collections of objects more important for who owned them than for their own merit. The architecture and original frescoes were the most interesting to me, but the guidebook (borrow one with your admission, available in multiple languages) doesn’t give much information about specific pieces and skips some frescoes altogether.
The museum itself is mostly not air conditioned, and while there is an elevator, it is still mostly inaccessible (or very challenging) to people with mobility challenges. There are also benches or other seating in only a couple of galleries. In one room, there are chairs that look like you can sit in them (I was not the only one fooled), but they are actually part of the exhibit. The only wifi is available in the cafe.
Admission is 10 euros.

This must be one of the most unique art experiences in Europe. A huge range of art, architecture and objets d'art, from different periods and places. The environment is gorgeous. The atmosphere calm and grand without being imposing. The building is so beautiful And both restaurants are a must for great locally sourced sicilian cuisine.

What about Palazzo Butera? We imagined it would be interesting but were a little prejudiced about the impact between modern art and collections, but instead this building gave us wonderful sensations on a rare rainy afternoon in Palermo. The palace itself is already a work of art and the museum layout is excellent.
The terrace overlooking the sea and the small tower offer the visitor a look at the Palermo seafront that will leave you enchanted. Thanks to those who wanted to renovate this home making it accessible to everyone. A beautiful memory of the visit to Palermo.

Palazzo Butera fills your heart, either for the stimulus it has managed to bring into play in that once dilapidated area, or for the far-reaching project it represents. A Genoese entrepreneur who returns from the United Kingdom buys a princely palace in Palermo to make it not only a private residence - and restored with diligence and love - but a place of meeting and growth, allowing the display of a collection of art that is not only contemporary to everyone, it seems to come out of the screenplay of a Paolo Sorrentino film. The Massimo and Francesca Valsecchi collection is remarkable: who would ever say that a painting with a man holding an atomizer in the middle is from the 1600s? The artists Gilbert & George - who I don't love - are everywhere with large format works and some interesting ones. Then, walking through the rooms, at a certain point we meet a couple of gentlemen who greet us politely... That sober elegance of manners and dress, the quick glances at things, looking out onto the terrace just to see if it's clean, there it betrays: they are the hosts, whom one of our guests thanks and they, shyly, mock each other and in turn thank us for the visit...

Palace located between Kalsa and Foro Italico. It is present in all historical maps as a symbol of the city. The palace was purchased by the Valsecchi family in 2016 and after 5 years of extensive restoration it was opened to the public.
The collection of modern art from the Valsecchi is interesting, embellished with paintings from past centuries, glass vases and antique furniture.
The terrace overlooking the sea is wonderful. From the tower you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city. The greenery is well cared for, we did not see any supervisors in the various rooms.
The entrance fee is 10 euros.

I came back for two consecutive days, and I will definitely be back! Courageous choice to bring the collection to Sicily, re-evaluating and embellishing a reality that is little considered in the north! Deep respect. See you soon
