Much to see in the Ballaro market. Typical large seaside market with lots of seasonal veg, fruit, fish, meat. Crowded & busy! The octopus fast food stand was great! Visit!

This is a living, breathing open air market in the best tradition. Fresh produce, seafood, meat and to top it off--Sicilian street food! But there is more, street vendors selling all kinds of everyday items for the home. I got two aprons in azzurri blue...More

This market is not the place to don your finest. Be casual, leave your valuables in the hotel safe and begin your journey into the past. Here, at the Ballarò Street Market, you'll find yourself stepping into the Twilight Zone of Palermo's history. You'll never...More

This was the second market we had been to that day. We went to the so called big tourist market called Vuccario but frankly it was a waste of time. It is not big and not touristy. Even the waiter at the bar said that...More

We loved our visits to this lively market. We stayed in an apartment in Palermo and bought lunch there. Motzarella, tomatoes, olives, basil, bread and wine. The merchants are super friendly. The fish displays are incredible and the sausages, salamis mouth-watering. A great, authentic experience.

Big city market, very busy. I was surprised that I could not find the fruit that I wanted there. Not especially interesting, but worth a short stroll. Go to the monuments and museums instead.

It was just ok, underwhelmed and not well organized. It was supposed to be one of the better ones in Palmero. The smaller fish market at Catania was more enjoyable.

I found this market very usual. Vegetables, fish, cheese, olives etc. Nothing special. If you need to get some groceries - thats a place. If you looking for some authentic stuff - try something else.
