This is only 4 minutes walk from the Palazzo Abatellis (separate review) so we decided to give it a try. “An aristocratic residence from18th Century”, said their advertisement. They don’t take any credit cards, then, when you produce the cash, they don’t have change to give you back… No map, no explanation, limited signage in Italian only, all exhibits under tick layer of dust, do I need to tell you more… To avoid.

Hidden away in a side street off Corso Vittorio Emanuelle, this lovely little palazzo has been maintained to perfection. Furniture, glassware, paintings, books, everything that goes into a noble family's home of the time period is shining and presented with an air of making a visitor able to experience the daily life of the time. Six euro entry fee (!), and you can only tour the second floor, which is only reached by several staircases, which did not treat my poor old legs well. But once there, all was well. I spent a good 30-45 minutes wandering around the rooms and checking out the amenities, while all the while one of the guards followed me at a distance, I guess checking to be sure I didn't abscond with an 18th century chamber pot. A good tour, well worth the visit.

Small, fascinating, Palazzo. Lots of themed rooms, a range of furniture, furnishings and objects, some exquisite, some a bit over the top. You get a real sense of the family that lived here. For instance there's a tiny theatre that must have been used by the children, either to watch puppet shows or to present their own plays to their parents. It offers glimpses of the life these people lived. I particularly liked the stables at the end of the tour and the collection of well preserved carriages.

This place is well worth a visit. It has the authentic atmosphere of an old family home, with lots of antiques and fascinating objects. It also has a lot of personally signed photographs to members of the aristocratic Mirto family from members of the Italian Royal Family and nobility, mostly dating from the fascist era. There is a real sense of living history here.

On our last day in Palermo we went to visit this Palazzo, It is amazing each room filled to the brim and bursting with amazing things from the very beautiful china to the ornate bedroom to the courtyard with the fountain decorations all made from shells.
It is sad in some ways too as this was lived in until 1982 but now is a memorial to the family and their life
However it is well worth a visit and be sure to cover the stables and kitchen which are a bit hidden.
This will take two to three hours to do the place justice and the little booklet gives lots of information worth taking the time to read it for each room.
We were the only visitors on our tour round it might get crowded in the summer and there is a bit of walking and lots of stairs to climb.

Entry Euro 10 ( also gets entry to Palazzo Abatellis ). Photography allowed.
An interesting look into the lives of the Sicilian aristocracy. Rooms are furnished as they would have been when the last of the Princes left in 1983. Then the family donated the building and contents to the city as a house-museum.
A little difficult to find - but well worth the visit after you have been to the Palazzo Abatellis.Friendly staff.

Outstanding self-guided home tour that should be more highly rated. Absolutely worth the walk and admission fee. It is a vast house with amazing furnishings. We particularly liked the tortoise shell clad pieces in the collection. We had the house to ourselves and it is great to pair it with a visit to the Garibaldi Gardens, with its huge banyan trees. This was one of our favorite house tours.

You get an idea of how the Italian aristrocrats lived. The furnishings and room decorations are rather frayed but you can get an idea of how it was in the past. Is it worth the pay and go see? It's depend on your taste. If you like to see the inside of palazzo and original living style of aristrocrats then you should go see. Not many Sicilian palazzos are open to public.

we would have appreciated some information regarding the history of this palace, but the guides didn't speak English or have brochures with a floor plan to give us an idea of the size.
All in all, I don't think they were too interested in tourists. Well worth a visit in any case.

Excellent and exceptional place to visit. Sadly, there are no tours in English, no audioguides or practically any information in English. Such a shame, and does not help to attract tourists.
