The architecture of the building really enhances the exhibits and the displays are not over curated and are allowed to speak for themselves and give you a real sense of the evolution of culture in the region. The explanation boards and labels are clear and...More

This is a small, but beautiful Museum of several rooms in a beautiful small Palazzo with a lovely courtyard. Don't be put off by reviews which say the art is "unimportant" - it is important to this place, and gives a very good overview of...More

Although small, this museum on two floors around a beautiful palace courtyard is a must for lovers of medieval sculpture and pictures.

Most of the collection is average, in my opinion. However, there is an exquisite collection of panels depicting Genesis scenes with Adam and Eve.

We were very pleased to have stumbled upon the museum in our wander through Ortygia. Not the Uffizi by any stretch, but a surprisingly full representation of the area's art through the ages. Nicely displayed, nicely explained. And blessedly few other patrons.

Beautifully displayed Venetian art and sculpture from around 800-1800. Many but not all of the works have some explanation in English. The most famous artwork on display is the Annunciation by Antonello da Messina.

The Annunciation by de Messina is a masterpiece and worth the trip. The rest is relatively uninteresting. Worth watching the video about the restoration of the painting.

My husband and I spent a very relaxing afternoon in the palace museum. The videos depicting the transformation and renovations were enlightening. The art and many artifacts include dating and information in both Italian and English. We especially appreciated the room arrangements in order to...More
