Made it to Duomo before closing at 6:30. Huge Doric columns were incorporated into walls of church, built over 6th century BC monument. Well worth the visit. Busy plaza in front of church.

The outside of the Duomo is impressive. €2 pp entrance fee to go inside. The baptismal font on the right hand side of the interior was interesting.

Visited the Duomo di Siracusa 1 week after the Papa's visit. Impresive pictures and ambiance, Impresive exterior too. There is a special room dedicated to Santa Lucia, do not miss the TV presenting a short movie of Sânta Lucia porcessione. Highly recomended!

These Cathedrals blend in and there are so many over Europe. It's nice with some interesting history but after a while they seem similar

When in Sicily, you get your fair anount of churches! This one is on steiroids! On the big white piazza, in the old town of Syracuse, you can not miss it, and it has superb architecture inside and out!

Cattedrale di Siracusa is a must see if you visit Siracusa. Splendid architectural structure. Located in expansive central plaza in Ortigia.

Visited this beautiful small cathedral on one of our days out. Awesome architecture and inspiring on the inside, including a large painting by Carivaggio. Would definitely visit again if I go back here, the architecture in the square is simply jaw dropping.

The exterior facade of the Duomo is quite imposing so we were surprised that the interior is relatively simple. There are none of the magnificent art and craft works found in many other cathedrals. Still as the cost of entry is low it is worth...More

The architecture is amazing with impressive artwork within. Be sure to cover up appropriately to respect the place although you will be given sheets/sarongs if not. Relatively cheap to go in and is a must do place in Ortigia.

This started as a Greek temple. It was converted to a church by connecting the columns with walls, so the columns still show. The Normans added their decorative elements. And the facade is baroque. Quite amazing.
