We were definitely glad to have a guide to explain the fantastic history of this unique church. Do be aware that women wearing shorts or spaghetti straps will be asked to cover up with a paper coat.

Amazing to be in a a church in a Norman church in a Greek temple. Fascinating and deeply moving. Not religious myself but sense of sacred is strong.

The history behind this temple/church is incredibly rich, and is reflected by the fantastic architecture on both the inside and outside, which showcases the influences of at least four civilisations over the course of two-and-a-half millenia. Considering that entry is free, visiting is a must.

Amazing history. This duomo started as a pagan temple in Greek times and continues today as a site for Christian worship.

Another grand but not too exceptional cathedral. It sits in the heart of a large Piazza which is the main attraction in my mind, Still worth having a quick peek inside.

A peaceful beautiful cathedral with lots to see, we especially liked the Grecian columns which still exist within the cathedral.

There were multiple weddings when we were there which was culturally fun to watch. Beautiful inside.

The stunning Baroque façade conceals a surprisingly compact interior, which incorporates the pagan Temple of Athena. Over 2,500 years of history are here. A must-visit in Ortygia.
