The view of Mount Etna and the sea beyond is absolutely superb at Taormina's 10,000-seat ancient Greek amphitheater, which was erected in the third century BC and expanded by the Romans.

At first I thought that 10 year oh was a bit pricey, it is not a Coliseum or anything, but the views are worth it. As there's not much else going on in Taormina this can easily be considered the main attraction, so not to be skipped. I really enjoyed the view of Etna.

We were impressed by the theatre ruins ....some areas were roped off for no access. You gets great views up and down the coast and of Mt. Etna.

This is a must see when in Taormina. It's just a short walk uphill from the town center. You can walk around and then into the theatre and climb up to the top as well. From there you will have a magnificent view of Mt. Etna and the Ionian Sea.

The Greek Theatre at Taormina is unmissable, especially as it's only a short walk from the main town. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds in the tourist season. Nothing better than sitting quietly on the steps contemplating the past, with mighty Etna in the background and the glittering Mediterranean down below.

We were always surprised and amazed with the amount of Greek influence there was in Sicily and the ancient temples and ruins such as this theatre in Taormina certainly reflect it. So worth a visit. A guided tour will give you all the history but you need to know it to appreciate what your seeing. An amazing view out to... More

Fabulous Sensational Taormina! I saw stunning, ancient amphitheatre ruins and sparkling seas below, in a magazine, I'd wanted to go there on our travels. Main centre is pedestrianised in Taormina. Staying at Mazzaro beach, linked by cablecar to Taormina, moments from the hotel. For us, parking at Mazzaro beach, walking was a pleasure in Taormina (shops, chic boutiques, cafes, restaurants,... Great views and pictures go just to get a taste of culture and history. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, snacks, and plenty of water though.

This is a great place to spend half a day. It's amazing how that it's still in the condition it's in. You get fabulous views too.

It's not the largest Greek theatre you'll see, but the view is most certainly one of the most stunning: from the auditory you can enjoy gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and villages perched upon them. Lovely location and the one must see sight in Taormina.

A beautiful site at a spot where you can admire from up above a great part of Sicily. Guided visit is preferred since you get to learn about all parts of the theater (those of the Greeks and the Romans). Definitely a must visit. But quite a lot of walking is involved so be prepared.
