My wife and myself are Catholics so went there for Mass on sunday and were pleasantly surprised that there was a special service going on. The architecture of the structure was simple yet inspiring, warm and cosy. It was not huge but spacious enough and welcoming

Personally, all the churches in Taormina is OK, nothing too spectacular compared to those that we seen in Palermo. They probably have lots of history behind them, but unfortunately, I couldn't find much information on them in English or French, hence we were just browsing in and out within 2 minutes of our visit. In actual fact, during our visit... More

We stopped by Santa Caterina while strolling through the streets of Taormina. It was very nice and worth a stop if you are walking by, but probably not worth a special trip just to see it. But it is on the way to the Greek Theatre, so you will want to stick your head in for a look.

We visited Santa Caterina for a concert given by a Flute orchestra from CAtania and the church was absolutely packed - partly I think because it was a very wet evening! Just before the programme began, the presenter gave the audieace a really full and interesting history of the church in English as well as Italian. This was much appreciated.... More

Walking along Corso Umberto in the direction of the Greek Roman Theatre is this last church in order of arrangement. I personally visited it in the evening and I can admit that it is very delicious and pleasant place to visit, not big in fact its interior is small and consists of a small central nave flanked by small wooden... This is a good place to shelter from the summer heat. Many will gather on the steps of the fountain outside to watch a wedding party emerge.

Not that much to see, shall not be a main destination. If you go through Corso Umberto, it is a good idea to stop by

An old small church and not too presumptous but beautiful. Located right in the main plaza of this tourist town since the 17th century.

Taormina is filled with wonderful Roman Catholic churches. Each one has its own charm, including this one Santa Catarina. And they are all free to visit. Many have gorgeous statues, oil paintings, and mosaics. I suggest you visit any with an open door.
