After reading the website I was lead to believe that val di luce had one of the best nursery slopes for novice and beginners. In fact the nursery slope here was more of a blue run on nearby cimone. I was petrified as it was only my second time skiing. There are awful button lifts which are somewhat like the... More

The weather was wet in central Tuscany so we put on what warm gear we could find and headed up to Abetone. What a treat. As we climbed up into the mountains there was no snow, then suddenly 5 miles away from the resort, there it was! We hired ski gear and arranged a lesson on the quiet nursery slope,... More

A day with the Giro d'Italia in Abetone - wow! This small town pulled out all the stops and created a fabulous venue for the throngs following the tour. We stayed on for two more days to enjoy the high mountain summer in one of the most important theaters of WWII. (Riva Ridge is right here.) Tons of history, lovely... More

Abetone surprised me greatly with it's cosy atmosphere and beauty of surroundings. Falling snow made it more magical and we had the best hot chocolate in our life in a cafe where they were super friendly to us and our dog. I will be coming back for more joy. This is a place to remember and to visit during wet... More

If you love fresh oxygenated air and incredible natural scenery, this is definitely a place you will want to visit. There's a rich history in as much as Hannibal, the Carthaginian military commander marched an army and elephants up into these mountains. If you can imagine this after making the curvilinear road tour via. automobile, then you might also consider... More

We were to stay two weeks here, thinking it would be a relaxing, peaceful village. It was quite cold and wet, even in June, and most places are closed. It was a horrible winding 2hour drive to get there, and you can't walk between the many villages as there is no shoulder on the road. You must take all your... More

Abetone is a lovely ski resort set in the picturesque Apennine mountains of Tuscany. It's great for beginners as the school slope is on its own, and has a chair lift rather than the dreaded button lift as mentioned below! This place is great for snowboarding with lovely wide pistes. HOWEVER due to the low altitude the weather is not... More

I was lucky! I learned to ski when I was 6 years old. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to have skied in many places and countries around the world. I love skiing with a passion! So what in my opinion makes Abetone so good for beginners? GLIDE ALONG INSTEAD OF HAVING TO CLIMB UP ... Ask any seasoned... More

Abetone is a beautiful area of Italy. Although obviously popular in winter for skiing it is also lovely in summer for hiking and simply driving around.
