We dropped by when a wedding was in progress, and it was worth waiting to see the families emerge from the church. The duomo has a subdued, but elegant interior. The view of the valley from the forecourt is beautiful.

This is not about the Duomo, but the town of Cortona. It is very charming and worth a visit. You can wander and enjoy all the views and take in the shops and the restaurants. I had expected it it be a little "Disneyland-like" but...More

This was one of our favorite areas in Italy. A very friendly town overlooking the Chiani Valley. Spectacular. Lovely square great for people watching, a glass of wonderful wine, and some fabulous shopping.

In every village we visit a stop in at least one church or cathedral is a must, so this was something we sought out. This cathedral is lovely - not as large as some in larger towns but still magnificent in its own way. The...More

it seems every town in Italy has a Duomo. Cortona is no different, except this one is very, very old. We were in town for a week so we checked out all the local attractions. It's a 20 minute experience but worth doing if you're...More

Get some comfortable shoes on to really explore the old town of Cortona. The alleys are narrow, the climbs fairly steep and the views breathtaking from the Basilica on top and the Roman fortress above the Basilica. It is a popular spot for tourists (much...More

Quite disappointing church; the Santa Margherita and Santa Maria were much more interesting. A nice view next to the church but not comparable to views from Santa Margherita or the Fortezza.

I find it difficult to rate churches and cathedrals etc. as they are places of worship more than a tourist attraction/trap. First of all there is no entrance fee. The altar and artwork is impressive. The ceiling is amazing. If i had to go to...More

Just a stone's throw from the main square is the cathedral. Impressive and filled with works by local artists. It has a quaint piazza in front of it with a modern statue of Santa Margherita and a view of the valley to die for. Also,...More

The small square in front of this Duomo is the main reason why you should visit this place. Spectacular views on the Chiana valley. The Duomo itself is OK, but nothing really special.

The day we visited, there was a wedding of people from Philadelphia under way. So, foreigners are allowed to have their ceremony there. I do not know how to arrange it, but you could try googling a question or send an e-mail... More
