Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

We went to see the Anselm Kiefer exhibition on the last opening day even on Sunday but we had bought tickets online and didn’t wait a minute in a row. Excellent organization as always at Palazzo Strozzi, where we have been coming for many years. Despite the flood of people it was an exciting experience, impeccable staging, wonderful works by an artist we love very much. We advise everyone to go and see it in the next set-ups wherever they are, it is an indispensable cultural and spiritual enrichment.

If you are keen on modern art - and you adore artists with a little psychopathic side - you will surely find what you are looking for here. For others, save €15/person, it’s really not worth the detour. Not to mention that afterwards you will have to spend even more in Chianti to forget this sweet feeling of having been made... had.

The Kapoor exhibition disappointed me... the ticket for 8 rooms which can be visited in half an hour by listening to the audio guide was very expensive. It didn't convey anything to me despite the complexity of the subliminal messages that the works themselves should convey... the external space with 3 black rectangles inside a white cube really seems like a counter exaggeration to me... I don't recommend

We visited in October 22, and saw the Olafur Eliasson exhibit. The artist and exhibit were wonderful, original, with a few works specifically designed for the building itself.
This was one of the highlights to our italy visit. We prioritized it over going to the Ufizzi to see the same old classical stuff again and it did not disappoint.

We went to the Strozzi primarily to see the Donatello exhibit, which was excellent. The Strozzi is a great old building used for different exhibitions. Donatello was unique in that he worked in so many different media, not just sculpture. They also had a digital presentation there that friends told us to skip.

We went to Palazzo Strozzi for the Donatello exhibition and we learnt so much even though we thought we had heard it all regarding Donatello. The cooperation with Brunelleschi for example was brought to life with actual pieces by both artists put on exhibition. Donatello worked on such different mediums, whether stone, metal or wood and this too was a surprising discovery. The exhibition is not too long and yet packs an informational punch!

The City of Florence is an open-air museum. Its urban architecture is perfectly preserved and is a sample of the splendor of the 15th and 16th centuries.
Apart from contemplating the palaces, fountains and statues that you can see on a walking tour, you have museums and churches that you must visit. There are so many that I am not going to list them, but I could say as essential:
The Bargello Museum, the Uffizi Gallery, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Accademia Gallery, the Duomo, the Basilica of the Holy Cross and the Church of Santa Maria Novella. Also the views of the city with the Arno River and the famous Ponte Vecchio, and also the panoramic views that you can see at sunset from Michelangelo Square located on the other side of the city.
I advise you that, if you like architecture and art in general, take the trip very planned with a map of the city in which you indicate the monuments and routes that you are going to take, depending on the days you are there.

The exhibition with works by Yan Pei-Ming is beautiful and interesting, an opportunity to visit the Palace, which has a beautiful and very welcoming café with art design furniture and offers a good, well-curated menu. We appreciated the agreement with Freccia Rossa which gives discounts on tickets. The Palace is very beautiful.

Magnificent Renaissance palace, Palazzo Strozzi, is located near Piazza Signoria in the very center of Florence. It is home to the Museo Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli and many wonderful temporary art exhibitions. The interior of the Palazzo is closed to public though

We saw the endless array of ads for the Olafur Eliasson exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi, so we decided to visit it.
While the building itself is lovely, the queue was endless (over an hour long, and another 30 minutes before moving to the basement).
The exhibition itself was disappointing to an extent it was irritating.
