Great place to visit to escape the heat of Florence and to absorb some science. There are lots of artifacts and fascinating relics. I'm not a huge physics fan but I really enjoyed this museum.

Not a very busy place but great museum on the history of science and Gallileo himself and his findings.. Worth the visit.

Really enjoyable, so much history to see. Learned an awful lot. The interactive exhibits are excellent too. Would likely be worthwhile to get a tour though, as the descriptions are relatively brief and more information would be appreciated.

Plan to spend the better part of a day here if you're at all interested in the history of science! The collections/treasures are absolutely world-class, very well displayed, with excellent signage in English throughout. Coverage is unbelievable, includes sections on basic principles of science, math, geometry; development of astronomy, meterology, ballistics, time-keeping, mechanics, electricity, cartography, medicine, navigation and much, much... As a fan of Galileo and the whole "Galileo Affair" with the "Dialogue" it was nice to see some of his possessions and many of the scientific discoveries that followed his writings. Globes, clocks telescopes and other early scientific instruments are displayed. A nice visit (well air conditioned) after a few hours in the Ufizi . . .Which in right... More

Excellent edition to my visit to Florence. It's any science nerds paradise. There is a wide array of scientific collections including microscopes, anatomical models and globes. I highly recommend visiting this museum to get a unique experience outside of all the art galleries. And… Galielo's actual finger is on display!

Really enjoyed this small museum and its' walk through the evolution of thought on the earth's position in the universe, maps, telescopes, circumnavigation and the like. There is enough in the way of interactive displays to keep older kids from rebellion, though may not be sufficient engaging for younger kids. An enjoyable change of pace if you are overdosed on... We came here with a 4 year old; and he was not particularly impressed by the exhibits. On the other hand, the first floor is mostly made up of interactive displays, and there he had a very good time.

Staying in Uffizi

Neighbourhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.
