On it's own in the piazza with the cathedral looming over, this was a much less visited gem. Very beautiful both inside and out.

If you are already visiting the other buildings associated with the Duomo and you can include this in your ticket price, go for it! The octagonal building is lovely for the outside, especially the replicas of the amazing bronze doors, but it is even more...More

As mentioned. Arrange this short visit with the duomo. Try to understand what the ceiling depicts... if not also fine to take in what you see and breathe.

In the center of the square. A unique eight sided building. Fits right in with the Duomo and its Bell tower.

The Baptistery of San Giovanni (Battistero) is a stunning place. Both the outside and inside of this building are beautiful. However the interior of the Baptistery is absolutely stunning. The ceiling, in particular, is really spectacular. Pity you have to get such a pain in...More

I visited the Baptistery after my Duomo tour was complete. It is right next to the Duomo and easy to get into. There was no line when I was there. It doesn't take long to view it.

This Baptistry is beautifully decorated on the exterior as is the other religious buildings in the piazza and has a stunning internal roof decoration surrounded by simple stonework that makes it emanate into the building. Quite a lovely site.

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city

Going into the Church part of the Duomo is free (it's a church), but if you want to visit the museum/archeological dig below it, climb the steps, or any of the other sites, you need the ticket. It is worth the money!
