This is a commercial street connecting Piazza degli Antinori (north) with Piazza & Ponte Santa Trinita (south) in the city centre of Florence. You will find fine historic palaces and hotels along the street as well as the Baroque Church of Saints Michele & Gaetano and Basilica di Santa Trinita, one of the oldest churches in the city. Many visit Via de' Tornabuoni for the high end, luxury brand name shops located here as well. These include the likes of multiple-floor Gucci and Ferragamo which has a museum along the street.

In the evening, I headed to the fashionable and very posh Via Tornabuoni for the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum and some window shopping. I didn’t plan to spend much time as I have been there before but I love fashion, so it was really hard for me to leave the “5th Avenue” of Firenze. It was getting really late, cold and dark, but I was still admiring bold fashion statements of the Via Tornabuoni: Versace, Gucci, Ferragamo, Tod’s… you name it. The window displays are absolutely magnificent and they prove once again that fashion is real art.

We passed this street with an impressive column twice during our stay in Florence.

A great combination of old architecture and modern shops.

I love walking this street every time I am in Florence. While is a heaven for luxury shopper the store fronts, well-maintained facades and just the historic air of the street quenches passionate traveler's thirst for authentic and exquisite Florentine architecture, history and art.

This is the most fashion street of Florence, on the groundfloor of several historical buildings you can look at the boutiques of important brands. Along the street there are Palazzo Strozzi, where you can admire important art exsposition and the Church of Santa Trinita, which contains a beautiful chapel decorated with a fresco representing the life of Saint Francais by Ghirlandaio, an important master of the Renaissance.

Personally, I never miss a chance to stroll along Via De’ Tornabuoni when I am in Florence. My favorite shoe designer, Salvatore Ferragamo, with his ageless elegant pumps is there... Gucci with its flamboyant style is there... Sleek and always sophisticated Armani... Roberto Cavalli with his festive colors and boundless imagination... and Valentino of course... and so many more. In all honesty, I found prices for designer shoes and bags better in NYC and Boston, but it is hard to beat endless variety of styles on Via de’ Tornabuoni - only Via Monte Napoleone in Milan can compete.

Always, a feast for those who admire the art of high design, like me.

Ladies, send your husbands to the bars and enjoy the kingdom of fashion😊.

The Via de Tornabuoni is a very good shopping street and much of it is reserved for pedestrians. There are many expensive designer shops here. The street is very clean and it is a joy to wander about the street. It is the most elegant shopping street in the city. San Gaetano is a beautiful church on the street that one should visit and does not have an entrance fee.

Wide sidewalks (finally!!) and beautiful shops of distinction lined this beautiful street. We wish we had visited the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum there but just too many tours booked for us. It was a pleasure to walk each day on the way to our tour location and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Wished we could have spent a bit more time there when the shops were open.

I must share my great experience, more precisely my girlfriends, in this womenswear shop just around the corner from Via de Tornabuoni. The owner, Betty, we learned has vast experience in fashion and she only opened her own shop in the last twelve months. Like most boutiques in Italy you will find that attention to detail is second to none, also the brands you find here are less known to the masses and all hand picked, my better half is what I would characterise as a bit of a fashionista in love with Armani, Marni and Prada (no intention to boast sorry) and is used to the kind of service you expect from those types of brands was very impressed and we went back the day after to collect some alterations and for a glass of bubbly! Thanks again Betty, we hope to return to Florence soon and will certainly pop in then! Well worth a visit if you are after some special pieces that are much less pricey than the super brands in the Via de Turnabuoni (which is parallel to this street) however I would still say mid-High price and great quality. The osteria next door is fabulous as well! Enjoy!

Our hotel Antica Torre di Via de Tornabuoni v1 was at the base of the street across from the Salvatore Ferragamo store and museum. The avenue is filled with the high-end stores one expects in Beverly Hills, Milan, Paris, etc. While this is not why we came to Florence, the wide avenue and architecture and people-watching made this an enjoyable stroll.
