I reviewed Angelo over a year ago. This time he prepared a family tour including kids aged 10 & 12. As before, Angelo was excellent. He takes care of the logistics (no queuing!) & knows the best cafes to stop at for a break. He tailored the tour for the children so they didn't get bored. We had a really... More

Angelo Alterio ( disangelo@gmail.com) went the extra mile to accommodate our group of 6. Well spoken, and knowledgeable in history of Florence and architecture. Provided a little comic relief with his enhanced artwork on his iPad! :o) Obtained advance tickets for church and Michangelo museum. Also secured tickets for us to climb Pisa. All around great guide who helped us... More

My husband and I booked two morning tours of Florence with Angelo Alterio. We had a wonderful time. We booked three hours each morning. He structured the tours so that we really saw a lot and learned many things about the history, art and culture in Florence. He was intelligent, knowledgeable, friendly, funny and helpful. He recommended two restaurants for... More

We booked online with Angelo for a full day in Florence. With engineers in the family we wanted to see as much Da Vinci as possible. With 2 teenagers, we wanted to keep it interesting. Angelo hit the nail of the head. He responded promptly to emails and answered all my questions in perfect English. The walking tour was incredible,... More

We received an enthusiastic recommendation for guide Angelo Alterio from our niece and her husband, who had hired him two years ago. We were delighted with his services. Rather than rushing us through several hundred paintings and statues, he took the effort to hand-select meaningful pieces that told a story about the evolution of art in Florence, about the symbolism... If you are looking for the best guide in Florence his name is Angelo. My wife and I spent the afternoon with him earlier this week. He took us to the Accademia and Uffizi Gallery. Besides seemingly knowing everyone who works at the museums (which definitely can come in handy) he entertained us with his wit and seemingly endless knowledge... More

I was on a group tour which lasted about 3hours. I'd been to Florence before but never had a tour. Angelo was great, he kept us laughing the whole way round. Best tour i've been on. Thank you Angelo!

The short tour of Florence was very informative, good fun and well paced for a group of about twenty of us. It took in most of the sights between Ponte Vecchio and the Accademia. Angelo brought new life to places visited many times before, by providing historical context in a fun way. I am called David and the highlight of... More

He is so passionate about what he does and the history of Florence so become so involved with it all. From the Ponte Vecchio to the Statue of David. Thoroughly... More

Staying in Pitti

Neighbourhood Profile
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
