A literal dive bar with the most unpleasant toilets I visited in our whole Italy trip. However they make the drinks strong, so depends on how tough your constitution is.

Typically cosy and basic Irish themed bar with a few televisions to watch sport. Bar staff are friendly, good choice of beers and best of all was the cheapest place I could find in Florence. Free wifi which is standard in most places now.

While walking back to our hotel, we decided to stop for a drink. Which turned into several, hahaha. Local people having drinks, watching football, having fun. The owner Max was a really nice guy, very friendly to us tourists. When in Florence, you want a cold beer, cocktail or wine in a casual atmosphere, this is the spot. Thanks Max

During the soccer final (Portugal vs France) this place was wonderful. It's everything I want in a small local bar. Friendly people and reasonable drink prices with good selection. Staff friendly!

What a gem of a pub! I visited several times during my trip to Florence, and each time I met such interesting, kind people. The bartenders, Paulo and Simone were gracious and so fun to talk with. Open mic night was especially a pleasure, with musicians from the area taking turns entertaining the small crowd. What a delight! Some were... More

Popped in about midnight on a Friday night when I was staying at a nearby hotel. Lively atmosphere with some guy playing solo on an acoustic guitar, and nice mix of patrons. A pleasant surprise, considering the street I itself is not very promising as you walk down it. Close to the central train station, and worth the detour if... More

A bit early for the train to nipped in to the Joshua Tree pub on the way to the station. Very friendly, full 'pints' (good selection of beers) and a long happy hour. We paid 4 euros a pint, (as we accidentally popped in during happy hour) which for Florence is a good price. Barman was fantastic, spoke good English... More

Walked around Florence for three nights looking for a pub. I'm an Anglo-American and i needed something besides wine. Loved this place. Met some cool people and went out partying with the staff afterwards. Great times!

I visited Joshua Tree in early April 2016. The bar is a great little backpacker style venue offering international beers on tap and happy hour between 5pm and 9.30pm on local beers. Staff can speak english and prices are reasonable.

Very lovely place, perfect for beer lovers + snacks are cheap. It's my second time being here and it deserves 5/5. Ask for German red beer.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
