The view of Florence from the Piazzale Michelangelo will take your breath away. It is a fair walk, but a short cab ride. It is worth the time because the view and serenity of this location are without description. Fantastic place to take pictures you...More
Come here at sunset, prepare to deal with the crowds. It's a hot tourist spot, but the view is amazing. You have to see it while you're here. There are a couple of food vendors near the top that have great apertivo. Check it out!
This place is a must when visiting Florence. We went there in the evening right before sunset as it offers a great view on the city. You can get there by bus or by foot- there is some hiking to do but quite easy one.
When visiting Florence make sure to make a trip to this piazza for the best views of the red tiled roofs of Florence. There are also great authentic restaurants in this area so ask at your hotel for recommendations.
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides
visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
Yes can sit outside and drink wines.
trouble always finds its way around but just be aware!
walked nearly everywhere. from the bridge to top of the piazza about 30-45mins.
I hope you enjoy it all in firenza.

I took a golf cart tour service called Verde Oliva. It lasted about 90 to 120 minutes and we got to see the main attractions all over Florence. One of them was Piazzale MIchelangelo. The driver knew the best spot for pictures and was a great paparazzi too. I would ask them to finish the tour up there, bring a bottle of wine, cups and some treats. Watch the sunset up there, then walk down to town (it only takes 20 minutes and it is a beautiful walk).
