Feel the history

Great mosaic floors, feeling of ages passed long ago. Why not, if it takes only 20 minutes of your time and you are already in the Duomo?

I expected to be dazzled by the interior of this church based on things I had read. I was not. Nice enough, but there are lots of better churches to see in Florence.

A lovely church that we really enjoyed looking around - it looks very simple from the outside, but once you get into the main part of the church, it is literally dripping in gold Lovely place

This is a lovely church, worth stopping into when in Florence. The frescos are beautiful and the architecture is unique, particularly in the large, open entry room.

Fantastic interior, though it looks unassuming / unexciting from the inside. Wonderful precisely because it is so hidden away. Actually loved this place a lot more than some of the more famous (and therefore more crowded) basilicas/ chiesas around Florence. The inside had much more stunning artwork than, for instance, the Duomo

The Church of the Santissima Annunziata is worth seeing. The interior is beautiful and there is plenty of art. I especially enjoyed seeing the frescoes on the walls. The golden ceiling was decorated between 1664 and 1670 to a design by Baldasarre Franceschini, known as Volterrano. There are several sculptures that are also very good.

At the Northeastern side of the piazza lies this gem. The piazza is out of the way, at the end ov Via de Servi, with only one small hotel and sandwich shop on one corner. This is a local church, a medium size cathedral that has many wonderful chapels lining the aisles, with frescoes and statuary. As in most churches... More

The Basilica of the Annunciation is my favorite church. I accidentally visited with my friends and we were amazed by this ancient beauty, introduced in church. Most remarkable are the frescoes that decorate the walls, made to narrate the life of the Virgin The church is very rich of decorations. For me the most striking is the beautiful baroque decoration... More

This is absolutely my favorite church in Firenze. Many years ago I lived on Via della Pergola and this was my parish church. I remember being invited to a parish dinner and meeting the Mayor of Firenze!!!
