The garden is only open for a limited time period during the spring when the irises are in bloom. It is reached from Piazzale Michelangelo (there is a small sign at the far end). You take stairs downwards into the garden. I was there early in the blooming season - for people who like gardens, the irises are so lovely.... More

The Giardino de;;'Iris is an iris garden located on Piazzale Michelangelo. When the flowers are in bloom, it becomes a really pretty place. Nice!

This garden is situated on quite a steep hill on the outskirts of Florence. It was once an olive grove. Now it holds an international collection of irises. Unfortunately 2015 was a poor growing year therefore 2016 had a poor flowering year. There were a few iris blooms out. Some of these were stunning.

Such a beautiful place with all the Iris in bloom. Any other time of the year and it would be boring.

The iris garden is fantastic during flowering season (late april till late may). For the first tine, this year the garden is open off flowering season; while it lacks the flower magic, it's definitely a quiet place on the hill where you can enjoy olive trees and a good walk!

Piazzale MIchelangelo is always a great place to see. If you have not been there at anytime a strongly reccomend you to do so. There is a wonderful view to the historical town center over the river Arno, just few steps and you find the nice Giardino degli Iris if you are interested in bottanic.

The Iris garden is wonderful but it is restricted by the life of the Iris. The Florentine Giglio is the symbol of the City and this is much loved but it needs to be seen in the earlier part of the month of May when the flowers are beginning to bloom - towards the end of the month these always... Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
