Bring comfortable walking shoes. The artwork and architecture are really worth a visit! If you can make it to the top of the gardens, do it. You won't regret it ;)

This palace once inside is huge. There are quite a number of stairs to get around all the rooms on show. It is full of ancient (and some very famous) masterpieces by just about all the famous artists. Plenty of beautiful sculptures here too. The costume area is very interesting. There is also a lovely formal garden open to the... More

This is mostly art that had been collected by the Medici dynasty over many years. The collection is extensive and there are many works by famous artists. The rooms in which the art is exhibited are also amazing as they very opulent. Highly recommended to see.

Similar to the Villa Borghese in Rome, the Palatine Gallery of Palazzo Pitti can be a little overwhelming in that every single inch of it is covered in art so your eyes have nowhere to rest. The floor: intricate tiles and rugs; the ceiling: frescos, gilded stucco and trompe l'oeuil freizes; statues in the middle of the rooms; everywhere else,... More

I bought tickets to visit the palace and the gardens. The palace was beautiful and rich in colors and fabrics. I was looking forward to seeing the garden as well. It wasn't worth the money. There was mostly weeds and the grass was growing wild. I was thinking it would be pretty as so many other gardens are in Europe.

You walk through room after room filled with masterpieces. You only need a slight knowledge of art history to recognize the artists and their master works. Everyone can enjoy how gorgeous this museum is.

Beautiful art by Raphael, Van Dyke, Titian, Ruebans, Lippi and others. Jam packed into absolutely ornate rooms. I took more photos of the ceiling in this palace than any other place. Each room i cooler than the next. However you may go into art overload if you are not a die hard art history buff. Defintely a great visit and... More

My husband and I spent a couples day walking around the Pitti. Enjoyed the grounds and ran into one of our friends there. Wonderful grounds and a must see.

A large selection of artworks housed within a nicely decorated Renaissance Palace. A little bit overcrowded with paintings which seem jumbled at times. Sizeable collection of work by Raphael and some minor works by other Renaissance greats. Well worth a visit but not a must do.

Neighbourhood Profile
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
