Acclaimed since 1996 for our great guides and tours, we offer the original, small-group Best of Tuscany tour, as well as wonderful guided tours of Florence, Venice, Rome and the Cinque Terre. Our tours are high-quality, entertaining, informative and fun! We love sharing Italy on a more personal level and with our small group sizes, we refuse to make you feel like a tourist. Our highly-qualified guides are passionate, have a sense of humour and enjoy bringing history to life. They include historians, aristocrats, wine makers, art sleuths, well-known journalists, guide writers, as well as talented artists and authors. What’s more, we are an ASTA approved, fully-licensed tour operator. We promise we are anything but ordinary, and we guarantee we are the Original & Best.

Fascinating and informative tour provided by our charming and intelligent guide. Brenda put the development of art in Florence into context using selected paintings to show how different artists challenged and rewrote the rules of art. Two hours flew by.

My wife and I recently visited Florence for a few days. Not knowing the city we thought it was a good idea to join a tour. It was a GREAT idea, we spent about three hours being taken around by Cate, being English but resident in Italy she was the ideal guide. The history was incredible (how does she remember... More

I really enjoyed the Artviva "Masterpieces of the Uffizi Gallery Tour." Our guide, Brenda, was knowledgeable, personable, and very engaging. The Uffizi is a large museum, and this highlights tour showcased the most important art while also revealing the progression of artistic expression over the centuries. Booking was easy, as was locating the Artviva office. I highly recommend this tour!

My family (husband & 2 boys aged 10 & 13) did the 3 hour walking tour of Florence with Liz. No language issues as she's a native American & lots of interesting facts. The boys were a little bored but that's their age & the subject! The pace was good & we learnt things we wouldn't have just from guide... More

The history, anecdotes, commentary and comedy was so perfect for our walking day-tour with Barbara. Her insight, knowledge and presentation was spot-on. She interacted so well with the group even though we had many difficult people and children in our tour. You should leave the kids at home for this one! This was a perfect orientation, artistic and historic approach... More

Spent a fab morning wandering the streets of Florence with our guide Cate. Having visited several times before I was familiar with the city but this tour introduced me areas and history that were fascinating. Cate knew so much detail it was fascinating.

We did a number of tours with this company (Florence Walking Tour, Uffizzi, Accademmia and Tuscany day tour) and I recommend all of them highly. They were all the perfect length of time so that you didn't feel like you were being overloaded with information, but also felt like you learned something more about what you were seeing than you... Our tour guide was Cate. She met us at the ArtViva office and then walked our small group over to the museum to view the David statue. Cate was extremely informative, telling us interesting stories on the way as well as giving us very detailed information about the David when we were at the museum. She was interesting, friendly, organized... More

Elizabetta was our tour guide for the city tour - she is the best tour guide I've ever had. Thank you Liz and Elizabetta - you made our... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
