Super visit ! A diamond in the rough.... if you wish to get out of the city for a couple of hours this is an amazing tour. I loved every minute of it and the ebike is a great “tool” when you go uphill... the convent is worth a visit and a large well maintained construction that you can discover enterring through the chapel ! A nice restaurant right next to the convent and some small places around the center for a drink or a bite. I would do it again !

Fiesole in itself is a nice place to visit. However the lucky visitor who happens to be there on a sunny day the wonderful panoramic view of Florence's skyline is AMAZING. Next to the view from Piazzle Michelangelo this 15 min bus trip to Fiesole will imprint in art lover's memory images to last a !lifetime.

Stopped in San Domenico for a light lunch and wow the views from all directions were just magnificent. It was also a nice place to buy a few pieces of jewellery hand made for a good friend back in Adelaide without being followed or hassled. Small friendly town of the Fiesole district and certainly worth a visit.

If you take the #7 bus to and back from Florence, be sure to have and to validate your ticket. The bus police target the #7 because it is usually full of foreign tourists who are not familiar with Italian bus systems. These guys pounce on the tourists ,and the fine they extort for not having a validated ticket is, get this, 50 Euros. Beware!

Took the on/off bus (the red line) up to the hills in Fiesole. Sensational views along the winding road up to the top. Beautiful homes and gardens along the way. Once we reached the top we were stunned at the breathtaking views overlooking Florence. Stunning. Stopped for an icecream and had a wander around this small but lovely town/village. Took lots of pics and then got the on/off bus back. Stop at stop 17. Thats the closest to the Duomo. A definite must do experience if stopping in Florence!

There is no need to book a tour just get the bus number 7 bus from San Marco up to Fiesole, runs every 20 minutes. Buy you ticket from the machine near the bus stop 1.50 euro each and get 2 so you have one for the return. You must stamp the first ticket in the machine on the bus the 90 minutes runs from then. If you don't stamp it there is a fine. Lots of restaurants and coffee bars. Great views, well worth the trip. Takes about 20 minutes on the bus.

If you are looking for an escape from the busy city centre of Florence, then hop on the number 7 bus from Piazza San Marco to the tranquil hillside town of Fiesole (bus leaves from Via Giorgio La Pira on the east flank of the piazza). The journey takes less than 20 minutes and the views from the town over Florence are amazing! Really can not recommend doing this more, as a real gem. There is a great café with outstanding views (though is a bit pricey), or if on a tighter budget the kiosk on the piazza makes amazing fresh paninis! Just a stroll around the town offers a refreshingly peaceful break from the city and great views to the west of the town too. We walked down the steep roads to San Domenico to enjoy the view of Fiesole itself. Worth the walk (or could get off the bus there too!)
Travel tip 1:
buy bus tickets from a Tabac (for 1 Euro 25 cents) as cheaper than on the bus (2 Euros). Better still, buy a book of ten and they work out 1 Euro each.
Travel tip 2:
take mosquito spray/ insect bite cream/ antihistamines with you!

Took the bus up to Fiesole from Florence. Very much enjoyed the Roman ruins and taking pictures, trying to imagine lefe as it was lived then. Walked up the St. Francis Convent which we enjoyed very much and the overlook of Florence, while a little hazy was still beautiful. The lady at the tourist information office had suggested we take a lovely walk down to San Domenico to catch our next bus and were glad we followed her advice.

If in Florence take the no 7 bus to Fiesole. It leaves Piazzo San Marco about every 20 mins. Tickets can be obtained from tobacco stall in square - the owner has very good English and is helpful. Bus terminus in main square and then returns to San Marco. Best views are from right hand side of bus. This small town has much history on offer but mainly the panorama over Florence.

A very easy bus ride (No. 7) from the San Marco church. 1.20 Euros gets you to this historic hilltop town, 25 minutes from the center of Florence. It's cooler, breezy and charming. If you go on Sat. there is an open air market in the square when you arrive. Follow the signs for the short hike up the steep hill to the to the church and monastary. There is the better restaurant along this route, otherwise there are places in town. The views are the best panoramas of Florence.

My deceased husband and I found the peace and serenity that helped our relationship. The chapel's beautiful small spaces was a nice change to Florence cathedrals. Of course the views can change your perspective on life. I think a perfect place for my husband and me.

I would very much like to find a place near or in your church for my husbands remains. This was our favorite place in Italy. Thank you Gay DiGiovanni.
