What a great wait to experience the town of Lucca. Whether you walk it or ride a bike, the view is spectacular. The first time in Lucca, we walked the entire wall and then went down into the town of Lucca to enjoy some great...More
This is the wall that surrounds Lucca. Some people take their daily stroll on the wall. Others are tourists who walk it. Others, like us, rent bikes and ride around it. I think it's 3 miles around. You have a lovely view of Lucca outside...More

We walked around the top of the wall of the old city. It was safe, very clean and beautiful. I heard you can rent bikes and ride it. It took about an hour and a half to walk it. It is flat so no hills.
Really you cannot miss out on this. Take a bike ride around the walls - it's only 4 KM and the bike costs EUR 3 for an hour and it's really worth it. Also take a walk or a run/jog. You will see lots of...More

You have 3 options. 1. By train which is the easiest way, about 25 minutes away. 2. By bus, a little longer and not as comfortable but the cheapest way or 3. The way I recommend, a little more expensive but just so convenient call a company called Luccalimo, driver picks you up wherever you want and drops you off at your request. We used the company twice and were very pleased.
