Walk the wall is a great daily activity. Lucca is proud of their wall and should be. No cars just walkers, bikers, and runners. Very safe and very friendly. Stop on the wall to enjoy the view.

We spent a few hours on rental bikes going round the walls both directions and then went in and out of Lucca when we had our bearings. Beautiful way to see the city and the beautiful surrounding mountains.

The ancient wall around Lucca is a wide, wooded, beautiful path for bike riding, strolling, running and enjoying the gorgeous weather. There is a restaurant on it that is quite good too.

If you are interrested in culture from old Rome, Italy this is a place to visit. The old town breaths from the tornaments from gladiators. This is a perfect visit för People in all ages. The old part of Lucca had no cars allowed. Three...More

We hired a four seater bicycle and enjoyed a relaxed cycle around Lucca from a higher vantage point. Lovely to see the city from this view and the entire pathway was not crowded nor strewn with rubbish. Clean, mostly flat with places to stop for...More

Dont know what I liked the better, the views, the ability to just walk and people watch, being able to ride the bike without traffic. It is the perfect place to take a walk, which we did twice a day. Don't miss it!

This was built to protect the town and what a structure. Most town/city walls are relative narrow with just enough battlements for defending troops to fight off invaders. This is wide enough for a two way road and then there is the buttresses which extend...More

Wonderful wander around the city wall, great way to see lucca from a pretty vantage point. Took us about an hour and a half at a gentle pace, directly across from train station. Many joggers of all ages which made us feel soooo unfit 😁😁

The walls are effectively a lovely public park with excellent views into and out of the city. Regrettably it is necessary to keep one eye on the views and another on the danger of collision with cyclists. In general, the many local cyclists were OK,...More

You have 3 options. 1. By train which is the easiest way, about 25 minutes away. 2. By bus, a little longer and not as comfortable but the cheapest way or 3. The way I recommend, a little more expensive but just so... More

At least 2 bike hire places located close to the entry/exit points of the wall. Easy to spot in such a small town.
