We biked around Lucca on the wall one of the evenings we were there. A very nice way to watch the Old town lightening up and people coming out for a stroll or a meal at one of the many nice restaurants.

Walk, run, bike, look at people or have lunch. Clearly one of the nicest strolls you can take in Tuscany.

Get a great overview of the walled part of Lucca. Provides a good alternate view to seeing the city from the predominantly pedestrian streets. A complete round trip provides views inside the botanical garden, much of the garden of Palazzo Pfanner, various configurations of the...More

It was a real treat to gently cycle around the wall of Lucca. Go both ways so you can see things from a different perspective. Even going slowly, you will be done in an hour. The wall and environs are very relaxing and the breeze...More

Quite a bit of the ramparts are not in the shade, so it's better in August to pedal (or walk) around early in the morning, late in the afternoon or of course at night. By then it is a few refreshing degrees cooler than within...More

We stayed in an apartment inside the town walls of Lucca and they provided us with two bicycles to enjoy Le Mura! We needed to rent bikes for our two children and that is very easy to do all around Lucca as there are many...More

There are loads of cycle hire places all around Lucca, and cycling around the walls is one of the best things to do in the city, it takes about 20 mins depending on how fast you ride, the walls seem to go on for longer...More

At least 2 bike hire places located close to the entry/exit points of the wall. Easy to spot in such a small town.
