Well built and maintained you can walk or bike the walls with sweeping views or walk inside the narrow streets with squares and historical attractions everywhere. Don’t drive in and be fined. Free parking outside walls. Also 1 Euro an hour parking close to walls...More

The walls are very peaceful compared wit the bustle of the city. We hired bikes and cycled round -4kms- later we walked round. You get a different peerspective on many of the sights when seen from the wall

Picturesque and pleasant for a walk around the city or for a bike ride. We rented a bike/rickshaw built for 4 and rode around the perimeter on top of the wall. It was fun and pleasant with the trees providing shade from the hot sun....More

A lovely relaxing walk where you can walk at any pace the wall gives you the availability to view the city from all parts. You can exit from the various gates. A lovely part of the city. Cool and shaded with all the beautiful trees.

The still intact walls of Lucca are walls that draw visitors in and welcome to stay! Great morning walk. Quiet and serene.

We walked part of the walls on a Sunday evening which was lovely because the locals were out in numbers promenading. Hired bikes and rode twice around slowly on another day. A lovely way to take in the views both inside and outside the walls.

My wife and I along with two other couples really looked forward to walking the walls of Lucca. Our decision to not take bicycles was only because we wanted to soak in all the sounds and feelings of Lucca slowly by walking. On a day...More

Le mura is the thing I miss most about Lucca. It is so beautiful, so relaxing. Walking under those lovely trees, enjoying the view or just sitting on the bench are ideal ways to absorb Lucca's beauty.

I walked the wall one day and cycled it another day. The wall is very nice and wide and there are plenty of trees to give shade or shelter from rain. There is also benches spread around to rest your legs if need be. But...More

At least 2 bike hire places located close to the entry/exit points of the wall. Easy to spot in such a small town.
