The botanical garden in the south part of the city was designed in the early 19th century: it is a beautiful green oasis in Lucca, with arboretum, pond and greenhouse. It is a little jewel of the city, a quiet and relaxing place where you...More

Away from the city, filled with history, a good green space. A Sequoia planted in 1840, a wide variety of trees and plants, a quiet little pond.

The gardens house a large number of trees and Mediterranean shrubs but is not well maintained. It is a nice, quite area of greenery on the outskirts of the medieval town but don't expect to be there more than 1/2 to 1 hour.

We found the information and signage very poor and so much more could be done with this beautiful place. It seems all the effort is spent on corporate events instead of visitors.

Total waste of money and nothing to see, esp the tunnels shown on the front page. Spend your money on a beer or ice-cream. Im a keen gardener and felt let down.

This is a small botanic garden with some interesting plants (personally I thought the Plumeria were the best) although it can be seen in a short amount of time. We spent time there getting shade from the sun as it was hot in the city...More

I never go to Lucca without a pilgrimage to this smallish but delightful botanical garden. And don't miss the friendly terrapins in the pond at the far end

Bring bug spray in the summer. Whew there are a lot of mosquitoes. And I suggest walking the wall to get there, because the walk along the street in town is hot. Also, the entrance to the garden is not where Google Maps takes you,...More

Paid 4 euros per person for seeing a horribly maintained garden. Greenhouses are used for storage. Bathroom “facilities” are a joke. Do not visit this place. Instead enjoy the fantastic views from the wall.

We also visited the Orto Botanico in Pisa and the Boboli in Florence and this one is the best by far - plenty to see, not dried up, and good labels on the specimen trees
