The Cathedral of Lucca
Aug. 2021
Impressive Romanesque cathedral built in the 11th century. The facade is very interesting (especially the stone with the labyrinth). Inside it is also very interesting, and in my opinion the most interesting is the statue of Jesus made of wood - it is said that this is the oldest wooden statue in the whole Western world.

Beautiful
Aug. 2021
Absolutely beautiful cathedral, the architecture and artwork inside is must see and I also highly recommend that you climb the tower. It provides an incredible view of Lucca and the surrounding hills and mountains.

if you are travelling in August 2021 or maybe even September 2021 you will need to have an up to date green pass with you (we were asked to show this before entering)

Lucca's main church
Jun. 2021
located just at the entrance to the city when coming from the railway station, the Duomo is an impressive Romanesc building with a nice interior. there is an entrance fee to the church, and a combined ticket including the baptisterium, the tower and the museum.

Rich in history
Apr. 2020 • Couples
**visited here back in January keep of 2020** Like many cathedrals in Italy this is a great one to visit. Nestled inside the walls of the city of Lucca, it is the biggest cathedral there and it can be appreciated from afar. 3 euros to get in and an extra more to have access to the tower, it is particularly cheap compared to some other ones. Also rich in history, the Cattedrale di San Martino is host to the tomb of Ilaria del Carretto one of the finest sculptures of the 15th century. The sculpture is very detailed it almost seems like is going to jump up at any moment. Visiting this cathedral is a must. Highly recommended. Follow me and my adventures @Sin_Aguayo fb sin Aguayo

Lovely little church
Oct. 2020 • Couples
Located in the centre of Lucca. Definitely worth a visit. The tower attached to the side is definitely worth a visit as well, as the views from the top are fantastic.
Church is very detailed on the inside and outside.

Very Nice Cathedral
Aug. 2020
San Martino Cathedral should definitely be included in your City tour
Cathedral by itself is impressive, but you can also go up the tower to get a nice view over the City, and do not miss the Batisfero (outside the Cathedral) where you can admire the romans remaining below the church.
Museum is average and you can skip it if you are short of time.

Gracious San Martino
Oct. 2020
San Martino is one of the Cathedrals which is a must visit in Lucca. The interior, artwork, woodwork and marble is beautiful. If you are fortunate enough you will hear the organ play during your visit which is a very special treat.
When visit please be respectful and dress appropriately.

Outstanding Cathedral
Jan. 2020
The Cathedral of Lucca, dedicated to San Martino, is one of the most interesting and ancient churches in all of Tuscany. Inside there are works of art and religious of considerable importance. It is worth visiting first of all because it houses two symbols of the city: The Holy Face ( Il Volto Santo ), a great "Black" Christ ( Cristo " Nero" ) , one of the most important relics of the Catholic faith, kept in an octagonal chest which is also a work of art and the famous funeral monument for Ilaria del Carretto, by Jacopo Della Quercia. Then there are Tintoretto's Last Supper, Ghirlandaio's paintings ( Madonna with Child and Saints ) and paitings by Fra Bartolomeo, Filippo Lippi, Bronzino and several others. The church has been rebuilt three times. Towards the end of the 12th century, the third and definitive reconstruction began, with the rearrangement of the facade: the works, which continued in alternating phases, ended only in 1637 with the completion of the Chapel of the Sanctuary. Many master builders succeeded one another over the centuries at the helm of the construction site: Antonio Pardini da Pietrasanta (1395-1419) with whom the building assumed the shape it still has today deserves to be mentioned, for the reason that the church is magnificent.

Wonderful main building, belltower and square!
Aug. 2019 • Family
Lucca's Duomo is the main religious building located in the homonymous Renaissance city, in Tuscany Region, in Italy. The square, where this building is located is impressive, when you arrive there only see beauty: buildings, statues, main church and the bell tower. Really charming! I would be all day seeing them! We arrived later and the main church was closed, but we could go up to the bell tower: incredible the views of the old city and their buildings. I came here with my 3 years daughter (in August-2019) and she also enjoyed a lot seeing views and playing in the square. Next time we will enter in the Cathedral.
