My bucket list is a lot lighter now. To me, paying the freight for a guided tour beats standing in line every time. Even at 75 the tower wasn't all that difficult, even with a bad knee. The tour included the other structures, They all...More
Visited Italy on a 21 day tour of Italy, North to South, West to East, returning on Nov 1st.. We customized our small group/independent tour with Firebird (Recommended) who arranged all tours. Of these groups, PISATOUR guide Vincenzo was OUTSTANDING both professionally and personally. First,...More

We visited Pisa and saw the iconic leaning tower of Pisa and walked around the area. We were quite surprised as the tower is really not very high and the rest of the area is nothing special. If you are short of time in Toscana,...More
Clearly the leaning tower is one of those iconic things everyone should visit - and its lean is impressive. So that's great.

We visited Pisa on 10th August 2014. Luckily our trip was a morning slot so there weren't too many tourists and it wasn't too hot.
I was struck by the picturesque view of the buildings all stood together in the "Field of Miracles".
we were there in 2012, eventhough was raining a lot, we could verify the beauty of the tower, inclined and with a church just near by, several people selling souvenirs around it, including umbrelas, that we bought one.
First sight was most impressive and went better as we progressed around the 3 main monuments. Would not have missed it. Although busy it was easy to get around. Seems expensive to view interiors....but well worth it. A guy sang in the Baptistry. Awesome!!!
