These frescoes are shown in there original state. They are beautiful but aged. It is good that they have signs to explain what are or you might miss what you are looking at. Take a few minutes after visiting the Duomo to visit these frescoes.

The Duomo was okay and the streets are interesting to walk around for a while but I woudln't make it you sole intention to go out of the way to ensure a visit. we paid about 40€ to come from florence and it wasn't worth it

It was abit of a climb to get there but well worth the effort, plenty to see on the way. All the art and culture was amazing.

A special place, a place of art with religious nuances, superb stained glass. I arrived very day Festival Il Palio and I lived omething special (July 2nd is the celebration). The entire complex of the temple is wonderful. Have a substantial reserve of time for this visit. From the walls you climb to the top where you see the panorama... More

What a beautiful town! I just loved sitting in the piazza sipping cappuccino and relaxing. Don't miss the black and white duomo.

This is another reason why Siena is my favourite city in the world. The painting reminds one that Gothic wasn't just stone, and there are some lovely bronzes.

The crypt is located on the backside of the Duomo. Buy a ticket for the Duomo, the crypt and the museum at the ticket office. All are worth spending time in. The crypt will give you a great idea of what it takes to build a massive building like this. Well narrated self guided tour. Engineers will love it.

This was fine, and if you are in Siena, doing the Cathedral, and have a combo ticket, then make a short visit. But on its own it is not worth a special trip. Best of it is to see the depth of the foundations.

After reading about Siena in Rick Steves and other travel blogs, we were excited for a day trip to Siena from Florence. It's very easy to take the bus (and recommend the bus because it drops you off in the center of town v. far away like the train will) and within an hour you are in Siena. The Duomo... More
