Mainly medieval and a bit of Renaissance. The main problem was that when we were there they were limiting access to each floor, so we would have to spend an hour on each floor, and then move on. This meant we couldn't look around in...More

This is some of my favorite art in Italy. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. A specialist would've thought they'd died and gone to heaven. Exquisite.

In a beautiful palace, the Alabaster is exhibited in newly renovated towers adjacent to the palace, off the inner courtyard. Take a moment to look around and to venture into the towers. The alabaster examples are beautifully displayed, on three floors and carry you into...More

This museum definitely deserves a visit for especially those who want to experience local medieval and Renaissance Art. The museum is a great complement to the Museo Civico which also deserves to be experienced as its frescos and early renaissance art are exceptional as well.

Much cheaper than than the Museo Civico with better examples of local Gothic art. The displays are arranged in an attractive building and I was amazed how few visitors it had.

I did not know what to expect or what paintings they have...but it turned out that I loved this museum much more than the more famous Brera museum in Milano! The ticket was 4 or 5 euros. I was maybe one of the 2 or...More

Siena is known for 13th and 14th century altar pieces and this museum is full of them- lavishly gilded with gold and done in luminous colors. Also, it's not too big and can easily be visited in a morning before lunch or late afternoon.

The art museum is in an old building that has seen better days, but it is worth the detour. Here you will see hundreds of marvelous works by Sodoma, Beccafume, and dozens of other great Sienese artists. You can see the initial stirrings of the...More

I don't know why we have not visited this art gallery on previous visits to Siena, but our hotel receptionist recommended a visit and we took him at his word. My goodness, he was right to recommend it. Considering the crowds in all areas of...More
