The Piazza del Mercato is just behind the Piazza del Campo on the back of the City Hall. I would advice the Antica Trattoria Papei for a good lunch or dinner. And if you want some lovely street food you should try one of the delicious panini from Gino Cacino Alimentari. Do not forget the glass of wine!!

This is a wonderful restaurant with plenty of space inside and outside. The staff were very helpful even though they were really busy. The food was classical not complicated and very tasty. My children and my vegetarian in-laws were all well catered for and enjoyed the food. We were not rushed and the atmosphere was lovely. I would certainly recommend... More

A large public space originally designed as a covered market.Whilst it is in good condition and well worth a visit it is strangely unused. We went past half a dozen times and ate at an adjacent restaurant twice but never saw the building being used.

Depending on where you park you will walk the amazing streets of Sienna to get to this Piazza. When you get there you will have numerous restaurant selections and places to sit and take in the view of the countryside or people watching. Then take a stroll to the Piazza del Campo for yet another wonderful piazza.

We found this square by accident. There was nothing going on in the area but nice views over the valley below.

Located behind the Palazzo Pubblico, this old market square is worth a quick look but it's not "pretty" compared to the rest of Siena. Parked cars, trash, graffiti...you get the picture. Still, it's part of Sienese history.

We were here when there was no market, we probably missed it. Still it was nice to see it, view was really great and is a hidden gem as you have to go through small streets to arrive here.

We visited Piazza del Mercator on Sunday morning when they were setting up stalls for Antique market held every 3rd Sunday of month. Undercover area was good for markets as it was light rain when we were there. There are great views of the Tuscan countryside from the piazza which is only a short walk from Piazza deal Campo, the... this is one of our favorite towns and we love the Piazza del mercato. Just take it all in and eat, drink and people watch. Walk through the town, which takes a while to get up to by escalators, because this is a hill town. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to take it all in. The food... More
