This church dedicated to St. Claire sits on a beautiful square overlooking the valley. It is attached to the ancient church and is worth the visit for it's architecture, artwork and altar.

We took a leisurely and enjoyable stroll from the Upper Basilica of St Francis through the town of Assisi to reach this Sister Basilica. Along the way there were plenty of opportunities to take scenic photos and buy local souvenirs and food. From the piazza in front of this Basilica, we took some lovely panoramic photos of the town below.... More

St. Francis received a message from the Lord while praying in front of the crucifix that now hangs within the Basilica of Santa Chiara. No photographs are allowed but we felt so blessed just to be able to see it.

In the city of Assisi, there is a vibe that cannot be explained. If you are not religious it may be lost on you. This small town is full of religious sites.

This is beautiful and understated basilica (taking into account what's at the bottom of the hill). The history is fascinating, and there is a lovely calm atmosphere inside. What I did not expect to see was a Nun having her photo taken beside the tomb, I don't know why but it shocked me. The area outside it is a lovely... More

This church and ecifice dedicated to Saint Clare stands atop Assisi at the high end. It is an introduction to the town. You should start any tour of Assisi by visiting this church, which is built close to the moving steps from ground level to the heights of Assisi. It is relatively plain inside, although quite decorated on the exterior.... More

Very simple architecture. The exterior is pink marble so that the impression changes with the lighting. One of the prettiest churches I have seen Not overdone.
