If you are in Assisi then this is a must. Apart from the church itself, which is beautiful, there is the crypt of Santa Chiara (St. Claire). A hallowed place, and a quiet place for contemplation. The chapel is also beautiful. And the broad paved...More

Another beautiful church in this small town. Very knowledgable local guide provided by tour company, Globus.

Most people come to Assisi because of San Francesco, but the 'story' of Santa Chiara is at least as fascinating. The church built in her honour is a marvellous religious building. Remember to visit the crypt and enjoy the architecture of the place.

We went late in the afternoon. We had the privilege of hearing the nuns sing some of their evening prayers. We had evening Mass. The tomb of St Clare is utterly beautiful. Praying in front of her was so special and scared.

This church is beautiful. I would really recommend that you go down to the crypt on display are clothes that were worn by St Francis and St Chiara with information detailed written descriptions in both Italian and English.

Not as flash as Saint Francis basilica but does have the remains of Saint Chiara underground as well as some original tunics worn by Saint Francis and some locks of Chiaras hair plus other items of interest

Another not-to-miss spiritual gem in Assisi. We were exploring the city on foot and came upon this gorgeous church. It was at sunset, so we could only admire its beauty from outside. There is a beautiful square out front and lots of flowers, along with...More
