This was opposite our hotel and was the first visit we made upon arrival. Very much worth it, beautiful building with an interesting crypt.

This is such a special place! St Clares remains are actually in this church! Holiness exudes from the walls and fills the air. Also found in this church are relics of St Clare and St Francis. A great place to visit--- truly a blessed and very holy ground.

It was quiet and not too ornate which we liked. The crypt was very beautiful. Mass was going on at the time and a big group was singing outside which added to the atmosphere.

Of course we also had to visit the church of Saint Francis' companion Saint Claire while we were in Assisi. Although quite crowded there was such an air of peace and serenity everywhere. It was fascinating to see the relics of the clothes Claire and Francis had worn, and try to imagine (difficult) what their lives must have been like.... More

We had to leave Assisi early in the morning and were glad to find that Santa Chiara opens quite early - at 7:00 a.m. - each morning. I found the church to be quite peaceful. It was a nice environment in which to pray and reflect. St. Clare's incorrupt body is housed here. She is quite beautiful and I was... More

Such a tranquil place and a contrast to the basilica. You can feel the peace here, a favourite place of mine to visit.

To see the real San Damiano cross, which is replicated in shops all over Assisi, is magical. To pray beneath the cross which St Francis prayed beneath is a feeling I will never forget. A place that must be on your list when visiting Assisi.

Gorgeous exterior and the Church houses the Cross of Resurrection which offers great hope and light. The Church also offers a quiet prayer room for meditation and Clair's tomb is donwstairs. She is now encased under a replicae of herself lying in state. Her clothing and other artifacts are present here and everything combines to make her spirit very present.... More

There's churches galore in Assisi but this Cathedral to the town's most famous daughters is worth a visit. You can also visit St. Catherine's tomb.
