This is a beautiful place full of lovely artwork and a very spiritual feeling. It is worth a stop during your visit to the area, and I heartily recommend staying at the nearby fabulous Valle di Assisi Hotel and Spa.

Wonderful church in the lower city. The actual place where St. Francis lived and died. You can see the small church he built that the current church surrounds. Take a little time to visit the rose chapel above Francis' cell.

Beautiful church built over the chapel and death site of st. Francis. The golden st Margaret is quite striking, overlooking the piazza from the top spire

What are the hours open in June? We will be traveling by train, arriving at 16:00 and want to stop here first. If we walk from the train station to the church, how do we get back to the town?
