Our hotel was nearby Arco Etrusco so we've been passing through it several times a day. Every time he impressed me again. The question that imposes itself: how and with what technique they have build something so impressive???

This Etruscan archway was one of the original archways to enter the old city and there was buildings above it that were destroyed over the years. When you enter the site you go into the old city with its massive walls of rock!!

We set out to find the arch. It was a bit of a walk but absolutely worth it. As you gaze at it you cannot help but think of how many others have passed underneath it. Well worth the walk.

As you stand in front of the arch and stare at it, you can picture what the city must have been like 2300 years ago. This was one of the gates into the city. It's hard not to feel transported into a different world

This really created respect for the Etruscans. Layer upon layer of civilization, with the Romans for once not being the foundation. Remarkably complete and strong looking. OK, it only takes a few minutes, but it's definitely a good few minutes. Opposite the gate you can...More

There is no way these gates - admittedly old and historic - are a top attraction in this town. You walk up and down hill all day and to climb just to see this is not satisfying.

L’arco etrusco e bellissimo e incredibilmente imponente. The Etruscan Archway is incredibly beautiful being that it was built 450 b.c. and without cement in between the enormous rock bricks much like the Egyptian pyramids. A must see if you come to Perugia. Along with the...More

Imagine the people that built this arch and those walls some 2500 years ago... In Perugia there walls and the arches all blend in to make the city such a charming destination. But for me these small details make the trip more interesting... Remember the...More
