This fountain is a must see when visiting Basel. It might not be the biggest, but it belongs to Basel as much as the Rhine River. The artist is Jean Tinguely, a famous artist from basel (see Tinguely Museum). It's especially beautiful in winter when...More

Almost adjacent to the Kunsthalle this small introduction to the work of Tinguely is a gem in the centre of Basel. These kinetic works move and spray water all over the place and when we visited in January were festooned with icicles - kids love...More

I thought this would be a little bigger and more impression. From a technical point of view it looks pretty cool but it was not what i would call a highlight of our trip to Basel.

....was ok, not great. Just ok. This is a 1.5 day visit city. Not a lot going on there so on a nice day you can see all the major sites in 6hrs.

Cold day when we visited but the water still flowed. Very cool fountain. There was a duck who had the fountain to itself. Not too many people.

Pretty fountain next to the theatre. Enjoyed hearing the back story of how/why it was made in our walking tour

What fun this place is. The water jets out of wonderful mechanical structures. If you like this you must visit the Tinguely Museum.
